On Tuesday 3/9/2024, Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) received Maxim Rubin, Consul of Russia in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The meeting discussed the situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and the issue of holding the next parliamentary elections, both sides agreed that holding elections is a current need and through this, the sovereign institutions of the region will be reactivated.

For his part, the Russian Consul highly appreciated the role of the Kurdistan Islamic Union in the political, social, and intellectual spheres of Kurdish society.
