The Kurdistan Islamic Union confirmed that they support holding the Kurdistan Parliament elections as soon as possible.
The spokesman for the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Khalil Ibrahim, said in a statement to reporters: “With the end of the fifth session of the Kurdistan Parliament, we called for the elections to be held on the specified date, but for several reasons, they postponed the date.”
He added, "We were fully prepared for June 10 and completed all legal procedures, but at the request of the parties in power, the elections were postponed."
He stressed that "the Kurdistan Islamic Union is still in favor of not postponing the election date again so that the legitimate institutions in the Kurdistan region do not fall under suspicion, and so that citizens do not lose further confidence in the authority."
