Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaauddin, received on Wednesday the representative of UNAMI in the Kurdistan Region, Ricardo Rodriguez.
The Secretary-General called for the United Nations to have an important role in holding the Kurdistan Parliament elections on the specified date, away from fraud.
He stressed the need for coordination between the Kurdistan Region and the United Nations representation in Iraq to resolve the outstanding issues between the region and Baghdad and to find a radical solution to the file of salaries of Kurdistan Region employees.
The UNAMI representative described the role of the Kurdistan Islamic Union in the political arena in the region and Iraq as important, stressing the importance of the union continuing its efforts to bring viewpoints closer between the political parties in the Kurdistan region.
