Secretary-General of the KIU: After more than 30 years of experience, fear of elections is shameful

The Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union says the situation will get worse if the elections are delayed further in the Kurdistan Region, elections are not the end of the world and are only a small change, but it is wrong to be afraid of them and make excuses to postpone them.

Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), attends the funeral of Ronak Abdulwahid, wife of former Iraqi President Fuad Masum, on Sunday, 13-08-2023, and answered questions from journalists about the Iraqi provincial council and parliamentary elections, announced that “After more than 30 years of experience in the Kurdistan Region, fear of elections is a shame.”

"If the elections in the Kurdistan Region are delayed any longer, the situation will get worse. We must reorganize our internal unity, fill the gaps," he said.

He said the elections are not the end of the world and only a small change, but after more than 30 years of experience in the Kurdistan Region in elections, fearing it or making excuses to postpone it is a shame.

The Secretary-General of the KIU said that for the success of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, there should be more understanding among the political parties.
