Secretary-General: What is happening in Iraq is caused by the failure of those in power

Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahuddin Muhammad Bahauddin, considered that what is happening in Iraq is caused by the failure of those who held power.

This came in a speech during his meeting with a group of members of the Islamic Union in the Diaspora.

He said: "The principles of Sharia and higher values have their place and sanctity in any society, and matters are evaluated and decided upon, either accepting or rejecting them according to the tolerant scales of Sharia."

He added: "In the societies of the diaspora, the freedom of belief and judgment is preserved, and you must preserve your Islamic identity and Kurdish originality when you integrate into those societies and embody good citizenship."

Regarding the current situation in Iraq, Secretary-General said: "What is happening in Iraq is caused by the failure of those in power in administration and governance, and being preoccupied with conflict over positions and the distribution of spoils, and the situation is heading towards more escalation and complexity."

He added, "Unfortunately, the conditions in the Kurdistan Region are not better than in Iraq. The political, economic and even social conditions are deteriorating, and those in power must consciously and responsibly deal with these issues."
