Secretary-General of the KIU: Kurds and Turkmen have a common history

Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), met with Arshad Salihi, head of the Turkmen bloc in the Iraqi parliament.

Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin said that Kurds and Turkmen are two nations with a common history, together they have crossed the difficult stages of political and social oppression and recorded a history of peaceful coexistence. There are Turkmen in Kirkuk and other cities and they are part of the social fabric of Kurdish and Iraqi society.

Arshad Salihi, Head of the Turkmen bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, said: “We respect and appreciate the vision of the KIU, both for the political and social vision that is faithfully implemented in reality.

Regarding the political situation in Iraq, both sides believed that consensus will open closed doors and save the country from danger.
