Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), and his accompanying delegation visited today Tuesday 24-5-2022, Fayeq Zedan, President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council.
They discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the region.
Secretary-General and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council emphasized the independence of the judiciary and both sides agreed that the consolidation of the principles of justice is important for political and social stability.
They also said: The rule of law is a strong foundation for building a developed state while protecting the rights of citizens.
Meanwhile, Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin and his accompanying delegation met with Jassim Mohammed Aboud, President of the Federal Court.
Secretary-General of the KIU said that the protection of constitutional principles is necessary for political stability and this is a duty that requires the Federal Court to be resistant to political pressure.
In another part of his speech, he stressed that protecting the rights of citizens and salaried employees is another important duty of the court that must guarantee all rights.
For his part, the President of the Federal Court agreed that the role of the Federal Court is important to protect the federal system and constitutional principles.
Both sides agreed that the constitutional rights of the Iraqi and Kurdish people must be protected.
